Terms of service
The basis on which we quote for and carry out work. Last updated 2 September 2026.
Template notice: these terms are a starting point and are not legal advice. Have them reviewed by a solicitor before you trade on them.
1. Quotations and estimates
A quotation is a fixed price for clearly defined work and is valid for 30 days. An estimate is our best assessment of a job whose full extent cannot be known before we open it up. Where we give an estimate, we will stop and agree any additional cost with you before continuing.
2. Call-out charges
A call-out charge covers attendance, diagnosis and making the property safe. It applies whether or not you proceed with the repair. Out-of-hours, weekend and bank-holiday call-outs are charged at a higher rate, which we state on the phone before we travel.
3. Access and preparation
You agree to provide safe access to the working area and to tell us about anything relevant that we could not reasonably discover — asbestos, concealed services, structural issues. Where access is refused or unavailable at the agreed time, a wasted-journey charge may apply.
4. Materials
Materials we supply remain our property until paid for in full. Where you supply your own materials, we will fit them but cannot warrant them, and we reserve the right to decline to fit anything we consider unsuitable or unsafe.
5. Guarantee
We guarantee our workmanship and the parts we supply for twelve months from completion. The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, misuse, damage by others, pre-existing faults elsewhere on the system, or work carried out against our written advice.
6. Payment
Payment is due on completion unless agreed otherwise in writing. Accounts for commercial customers are strictly 30 days. Late payment may attract interest under the European Communities (Late Payment in Commercial Transactions) Regulations.
7. Cancellation
Consumers have a statutory right to cancel a contract agreed off-premises within 14 days. Where you have asked us to begin urgent work within that period, you remain liable for work already carried out.
8. Liability
We carry €6.5m public liability insurance. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Otherwise our liability is limited to the value of the work carried out.
9. Complaints
Tell us. Email info@northgateplumbing.ie or phone 01 555 0184 and we will respond within five working days.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
